Client Example - Extension to house

Having decided to take the plunge and have their house extended the Clients(Mr & Mrs Smith) have instructed an Architect to provide a planning application drawing set and the application has been approved.
Reticent at this stage to spend more money on the Building Regulation drawing set Mr & Mrs Smith now need a Budget Estimate to decide whether they have enough money to proceed with the project.
Mr & Mrs Smith contact K. Ridsdale & Sons Ltd. and request a Budget Estimate for their project, the planning application drawing set is emailed over and a site visit is arranged so Mr & Mrs Smith can discuss the project and identify any other specific requirements.
Having provided Mr & Mrs Smith with a Budget Estimate they now decide they can proceed with the works and instruct the Architect to produce the Building Regulation drawing set.
Upon receipt of the Building Control approved drawing set K. Ridsdale & Sons Ltd.  then provide Mr & Mrs Smith with a Contractual Estimate for their project, complete with a detailed breakdown of what has and has not been included in the Estimate.
Mr & Mrs Smith then agree to proceed with the project, payment terms are agreed, contracts signed, initial deposit paid and K. Ridsdale & Sons Ltd. undertake the construction work including providing protection for existing structures and surfaces as required, and take the project all the way through the construction phase through to completion of the project including periodic (usually 2 to 4 weeks depending on the project) Valuations of the work and a projected Final Account including any additional works, omitted works, and variations to the works detailed in the original Contract which may have been requested or otherwise agreed during the construction phase.
The projected Final Account gives Mr & Mrs Smith a clear breakdown of the costs as the project progresses and enables them to make additions or omissions to the extent of the works so that the project can remain within their budget.
